Let's rally together to support the children and families spending the holidays in the hospital. We are thrilled to announce the start of our annual Toys for Mott & Hurley donation drive, which brings essential items, comfort, hope, and smiles to these brave patients.

Over $8,000 in Toys and Supplies Donated to Mott and Hurley Hospitals

We’re proud to say that last year, with the help of our amazing and inspiring community, we raised over $8,000 in toys and supplies! Last year's drive also marked more than 10 years of successfully raising funds and gathering donations to bring comfort and joy to children and their families during the holidays. This longstanding commitment reflects our belief that every child deserves a bit of holiday cheer, especially when spending time in the hospital.

 Additionally, we also learned from hospital staff that books are the most requested item! With this knowledge in hand, we launched another campaign called: “Read with EMUCU: Books in the Branch” this past Summer to collect more donations for children and families.

Supporting Crucial Pediatric Care

Both Mott and Hurley Children’s Hospitals are vital institutions that provide crucial pediatric care and specialized medicine to children suffering from a wide range of medical challenges. This initiative is a powerful expression of our community involvement, as our donations are carefully selected to meet the hospitals' most urgent needs and ensure maximum comfort and engagement for the children.

A Look at the Donations

The items raised extended far beyond games and included practical and comforting necessities:

• Diapers and essential supplies
• Board and tabletop games
• Art supplies and craft kits

Kayton Poehner, head of our Give Back Committee at EMUCU, shared her enthusiasm for the community's response. “Every year we are inspired and humbled by the generosity of our members and team,” she said. “It’s such a wonderful way to give back to our community and help children experience joy, even when they spend the holidays in the hospital.”

We are committed to supporting the resilient parents and caregivers who endure long stays with their children in the NICU. To offer a small, essential comfort during this difficult time, EMUCU was honored last year to provide these families with practical and reusable metal water bottles.

We look forward to continuing this meaningful tradition and making an even bigger impact this year!
